According to WORLD HEALTH ORGANISATION 31% of the world population is not physically active. Which makes them deprived of various health benefits of being active. Are you one of them ? Among these 31% most of them are women and elderly who are inactive.
Women are less physically active than men. The global target is to bring this 31% physically inactive population to 15% by 2030. Together we can make everyone aware about this information. Though it is a global target but remember each one of us will be benefitted by being physically active. Our health will improve and so does the health of our family and friends.
Encourage your family and friends to be active through your social media accounts, through calls. Inspire them by being an example for them.
WHO recommends that adults should have 150 minutes of moderate-intensity or 75 minutes of vigorous- intensity physical activity per week.
Women don’t get time for physical activity or they don’t give importance towards being active. But physical activity can save us from various diseases like cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular disorders and much more. Nobody wants to be ill. For that, we have to spread awareness about the benefits of being physically active.
Encourage everyone for walking, cycling, running, playing games so that they can easily attain 150 minutes per week of moderate-intesity physical activity.
Elderly people are more prone to being inactive due to old age. The idea is to show them the picture of other elderly people who are going to the park daily. Tell them that, inspite of injury people are still coming to park. And it’s not false , I myself have seen elderly people who go to park daily, injured inspite of injury walking in the park.
Just like we all join our hands to fight against Covid. We, the world, are together again to spread awareness to be active.

It was 12 March 2023, an event called All Women Bike Rally was organised in New Delhi on occasion women’s day. NBT a leading newspaper organise it every year. I was among the participants that year. It was a great experience. We reached from where the rally is about to start at sharp 8 am. Get the registration done they gave us some stickers and number to stick to our bikes.
Women from almost every state participated in the rally. We were 2500 in total that year. Women from Border Security Force, women from Delhi Police were also part of this rally. We click pictures, I will share it some of them.





The event started with some music and dance. The stage was set for all the women to perform. After the musical dance performances the women were given recognisition who have done something for women empowerment.
At 10 am rally started. Our honourable President of India Ms. Droupadi Murmu virtually gave a flag off and famous bollywood actor Ms. Saniya Malhotra, gave us a flag off. It was a ten kilometre ride. I enjoyed every bit of it. We reached to the end of rally in about 45 min. After the rally there were more performances lined up. Everyone was dancing, enjoying and celebrating womanhood. A women aged 75 years was also part of the rally. To see the enthusiasm of everyone, I was so inspired that I decided every year I will participate in this women bike rally and celebrate womanhood with them. HAPPY TO BE PART OF WOMEN BIKE RALLY.

I don’t know how many of you are interested to know about my weightloss journey, but my coach and friend, Prashansa suggested me to write a blog on it as she was and is with me throughout this journey. I hope you all find it inspiring and interesting. So let’s start-

Let me first tell you what was the reason behind joining a weightloss program. Last year in 2022 we went to Dubai for vacation there when we were at Desert Safari, we all were clicking pictures and suddenly the cab driver who was clicking pics said to a group of ladies, “jump and I will click your pictures”. All three of them jumped so high, the ladies were overweight and jumped very easily two three times. Now came our turn, he said to our family, jump. Surprisingly I was unable to jump even a single inch. This moment was the turning point of my life I must say. My mind was wandering, why I was not being able to jump, there were so many questions rising in my mind. Strange isn’t it? Anyways we enjoyed our vacations and came back to India on 29th June, 2022.
As I am a very health cautious person, always watching health related videos and post online. But irony is, only watching them will not make you healthy. You have to take right decision at right time. So, I decided to join a weightloss program within 2 days. I didn’t ask anyone, decided myself, and the weightloss journey started on 1 July 2022.
We women think about our family first and take our health for granted. But every women should take their health seriously. I used to say to my friends you should take care of yourself so that you can take care of your entire family. Recently, someone said the same to me.
So, coming back to the weightloss journey. It started in the month of July, 2022. I had two coaches, a diet coach, Mandeep and fitness coach Prashansa. They both interacted with me on call and designed a diet plan and workout plan according to my capabilities and choices. First month was very challenging, I had to change my eating habits, do workouts daily. What I ate, how much protein, carbs,fiber, fat is being consumed in a day was all tracked on the healthifyme app and workout was also tracked daily. Then slowly it became my habit to log food and workout. I was not at all good at doing workouts first few months. Because by following diet plan only I loose so much weight. My fitness coach used to scold me, screamed, gets angry many times. Diet coach and fitness coach always keep a check on me. I connect on call every fortnight with them. It took time for my body to adapt to changes.
I always took workouts for granted honestly. Keep on giving excuses, today I went somewhere, today it was so hot, today it is so cold that’s why I had not done my workout. But, my fitness coach didn’t lose hope, keep motivating, keep modifying my workouts accordingly. I was very much interactive with my diet coach she with vast experience had all the solutions to any challenges which I faced. Unfortunately she left the organisation and a new diet coach was assigned to me. The day she left, my fitness coach was also on leave. I dropped a message in the app where we had a group with coaches to chat with them anytime, that, I need to talk to my fitness coach. My fitness coach, Prashansa called me up, she was ill still she called me and check about my health. I was moved by her dedication towards her job and caring nature. On new year eve i.e 31 Dec, 2022 took a resolution that I will excercise regularly and eat healthy. I stick to it till now thank God. Everything was going well before the assignment of new diet coach. From Feb 2023 to may 2023 I was only relying on workouts because my fitness coach was the same but my new diet coach was not as good as Mandeep. I got struck I was not loosing weight, was very disappointed and low just about to give up. Then I booked a call with my fitness coach and tell her about the situation. She scolded me. She said you have come this far and loose good amount of weight why are you giving up. At that point I told her I am not being able to follow diet plan, didn’t said a single word against new diet coach.
Confused what to do. Then I decided if I had to continue the weightloss journey then I had to change my diet coach. It was Monday morning at 6:15 am I assigned a new diet coach for me. My third diet coach is Priya. She understand what I expect from my diet coach and now I am happy to have Priya as my diet coach. Prashansa, my fitness coach took good care of me while I was struggling and about to give up. Her love, care, understanding saved me from giving up.
In weightloss journey our thinking totally change. We always think about eating right, eating healthy. The grocery we used to buy earlier now has new healthy options. I have learnt a lot from Mandeep ( my first diet coach) and Prashansa ( my fitness coach).
Now I do workouts, strength training regularly and enjoy it too. Thank you to my fitness coach. This change from making excuses to enjoying workout is because of her faith in me. My weightloss journey is still on will soon achieve my target weight. While on this journey you only and only think about how to be fit, active and eat right. Your conversation with other family members changes. When you visit anyone you do try to avoid unhealthy stuff as much as possible. The control and choosing healthy over unhealthy is all about this journey. When this control and choice becomes your lifestyle you are a winner along with your coaches, because without their guidance this journey was not possible.
While attending any function or party we keep a check on portion, because when we attend any such function we have the tendency to overeat. My weightloss journey was full of highs and lows but I am happy that I took a right decision at right time and lucky enough to have coaches like Mandeep, Prashansa and Priya.

We all might have travelled from one place to another on plane. I also travelled many times. Sometimes we enjoy, another time not. We demand something or the other when we are boarding on plane. We always think, we have paid the airlines money, we must avail all the facilities provided by the airline. We just press a button and one of the crew member within a few seconds is at our service, as if, we have rubbed Alladin’s lamp and a genie appears in front of us asking ‘ kya hukum hai mere aakka’ ( how can I help you). Then we ask sometimes for drinks, AC etc.
Recently I have the pleasure to go on vacation and while travelling I also like any other passenger was cursing the airline, this is not good, that is bad, comparing with other airlines. I was excited to reach the destination and nothing other than that came in my mind. Reached there, enjoyed the vacation and while coming back through same airline my thought process totally changed.
The AC was off, everyone was annoyed and asking to turn on the AC. One of the crew member came and said AC will be turned on once the plane take off. I was also feeling hot but stayed silent. One passenger from my behind said ” They are not switching on the AC will they give us refreshment also or not?”. I was thinking how stressful it is to calm down the passengers, no doubt passengers were also right. All this was being handled by one of stewards on the plane.
The plane took off well, passenger behind my seat was boarding on plane for the first time, he remembered God. Our plane’s captain was a female. I don’t know why I was happy to know this. I silently wish all the best to the female captain in my mind and slept. When I woke up, it was 4 o’ clock in morning and we reached at airport before scheduled time. The landing was also smooth. All the passengers including me were waiting for the doors of the plane to open so that we can exit. While coming out I saw the captain of the plane. In white uniform she was looking fab. She was in a hurry, took her baggage and exit just before me.
Driving a car might be easier than flying a plane I am sure. While driving a car,daily going through same route you become aware: where the speed breakers are, when you will approch a traffic signal, you can stop by the side, you are grounded, doing nothing against gravity. On the other hand, inspite of being on same route pilot don’t know when the plane has to go though thick clouds. Each day is new and unpredictable. And if the passengers are not happy with the services you just have one choice- to calm them. The training which crew members get is maybe more about how to be mentally prepared for any unforseen circumstances, how to remain calm if they have irritating passengers on board etc. All these thoughts in my mind made me silent and to respect the profession of a Pilot and crew members. A big thank you to the Captain of our plane.

What do you think about women and the role played by them in your life? Think again, think of your grand mother, mother, sister, wife daughter. The values which your grandmother have given you, the protection, the care, love. Then comes mother, recently we celebrated mother’s day, in March we celebrated women’s day. Do you just give a gift to your mother and make the day special for her or make everyday special for her, by caring, loving, giving attention?
When it comes to women empowerment I feel why is the need for empowering women? They are already strong but friends the society in which we live is still men oriented it may be changing though. Men can’t see women more successful than him, though exceptions are always there. I wonder if someday God send a women to save the world, this men oriented world will not accept that also. They will deny the blessings of God and question him why you send a women to save the world. It hurts men ego, I am talking about the orthodox ones.
The blog is about how women play a vital role and are backbone of a family. Think of a day, start from morning till night. Who takes care of all the stuff done at home cooking, cleaning, washing clothes, homemakers are more engaged in their home than working women. I already said exceptions are always there. Women work from home also, so that they can give optimum time to family and their career too. Ambition to make a career of their own is good but if your child gets neglected then it will harm you in long run. Women when given a chance to do red collar job or white collar job or blue collar job they do wonders. Women are more patient, calm, strong, focussed than men.
If a women gets ill in a family whole family gets affected. It makes the family paralysed. Best way out is to share the work load of home, men should start cooking at home, wash cloths, many family men already do it and also make your little ones independent, let them cook their meal once in a week. It will be an activity for them and they will also learn to cook. Women are much sensible to take care of families finances. The reason is men are so busy making money that they don’t have time to think where to invest earned money. Women always be encouraged to get higher education so that , she can pass on that education to their children.
An educated women is an asset to the family. She can lead the family business. She can do anything. There are dreams in her eyes also. A women protects, care, love, fight for injustice and expect support from other family members. People judge because they can’t accept change. The people who can’t digest womens’ success will always drag women back by ethical or non ethical ways. Don’t bother about those people. Stay true to yourself.
Women lead government can deliver much better governance. Women always work in favour of all the citizens of the nation and having soft corner for everyone. She always lead a peaceful government with growth and prosperity of the people in mind.
War in Ukraine is example of men ego leading to destruction. Destruction of infrastructure, loss of people’s life, harm to humanity, affecting whole world, I strongly believe not only women can be backbone of family but can play vital role in Governments also. Prime Minister of Sweden and Prime Minister of Finland is such example.
Be the change, try to overcome all the obstacles and three cheers to all the feminist.
