Baisakhi is a festival celebrated on 13th or 14th April every year. This festival marks the first day of the month of Vaisakh and is celebration of spring harvest primarily in North India.
Baisakhi as a major Sikh festival marks the birth of ‘KHALSA’ order by GURU GOBIND SINGH JI, tenth Guru of Sikhism in 1699.
Sikhs go to gurdwara, attend processions, recite gurbani kirtan after that people dance, exchange sweets, cook traditional dishes and enjoy them.
Happy Baisakhi to all, may this Baisakhi brings more happiness in your life.
We all can contribute and help in saving planet earth. Remember the word ‘save’. Save trees, save water, save marine life, save wild life, save electricity. It all starts with the word ‘save’. Save money, when we think of saving money we save our planet automatically. Less expenditure means you will waste less products. The more we spend money on anything, be it cloths or food the tendency is we will waste. That waste will then accumlate in the atmosphere making environment polluted.
It may seems boring to read all this, we are aware and read my times about environment in our text books. But now is the time to act, when you choose a product to purchase, say shampoo, read all the details about it, see the shampoo bottle is of plastic or other environment friendly material. I know about companies like MAMA’S EARTH, they plant trees also. Go for these kind of companies whose product is good and they are doing good to environment too. Then we have online app called BIG BASKET, all their delivery person use electric vehicles to deliver goods. Encourage these kind of efforts by the companies through which not only you get the benefit but environment also get benefit.
We have read so much about saving environment, now is the time to act wisely. Not only can your planting trees impact immensely but choosing right things while purchasing can also make a big difference. Why we keep on saying buy local products? It’s because it will consume less energy to reach you. Fruits, vegetables grown near you will be fresh while sold in market. Talk to your friends and relatives about climate change and how we can bring a positive change, what we can do to save planet earth. Like any other topic, this is also urgently important one to think and act about.
I came to know recently that, in New York a climate change clock is installed and it shows time left for climate change action. It’s time is adjusted every three months according to the climate actions taken by people. The clock is sensitive to human activities, which is why we must act now. The clock has been installed in Berlin, Rome, Seoul and Glasgow, but it can be brought into offices, schools and universities!
We think that how our small doings will impact climate change, but it does. We not only can do good for environment but also can encourage and inspire others to do so, by sharing vital informations.
It’s time to return to nature and natural things. We have received so much from nature, it’s time to give back for the good of ourselves and the world. ‘Happy earth,Happy world’
April’s topic is environment. All the blogs in April will be on environment. So, be ready for helping in saving the environment for better future and happiness of generations to come. As with advancement and to make life easy we have done major changes and misused the things which nature gave us. To commute, we use vehicles run on petrol and diesel which pollute our environment. For infrastructural needs we cut forest immensely without even thinking about the after effects. We wasted water when we have in abundance to use it. Factories emit pollution in form of air and water pollution.
We know about water pollution, air pollution, their causes and impact on our lives but we don’t think it to be a serious thing. We must think while cutting an old tree 🌴 how much it can give and have given, in form of shade, fruits, oxygen. Situation like climate change is caused by deforestation, pollution which is emitted through factories and vehicles we use to commute. We use disposable plastic which is another cause of pollution. Things like steel, glass should be used instead of plastic. Using excessive amount of plastic in our daily life can cause harmful effects on our health, it can cause cancer too.
Due to deforestation we also have disturbed all the wild life. Ecosystem is highly affected. Many species of animals are endangered to be instinct. Water pollution has polluted the oceans and marine life. It’s high time we think sensibly and do something about it. Things which we purchase daily also have impact on environment. If we start buying things locally we can save the environment by not using vehicle to buy from somewhere far or if we buy online the delivery person will also have to use vehicle to deliver the order. It is also reason for pollution. Buy things which you need, excessive buying not only make a hole in your pocket but also not good for environment. The energy used to make the product will be wasted if we purchase more than we need and throw away afterwards.
We don’t see immediate effect of climate change in our daily life but must be aware that temperature of earth is rising and we are seeing warm climate where there was cold, rains, thunderstorms, landslides, glaciers melting, etc. These all are due to climate change and if we want our children to enjoy what we used to enjoy in our childhood, for their future and wellbeing we must start taking serious steps to resolve. We together as global citizens must act collectively and raise this issue to our respective country’s government for betterment of all. Many countries like Germany, Sweden, China, USA, Denmark, United Kingdom, Costa Rica, Iceland, Finland, Morocco, and Kenya use green energy. It should be followed by other countries also.

When we start saving money, we automatically save planet earth. Spend money on things needed in adequate quantity, not more or less. Avoid usage of plastic where possible. Think alternatives of plastic and use them. REUSE, RECYCLE, AND REDUCE. Repair your old mobile and use; don’t go for upgradation of mobile, if not needed. Some people take mobiles as status symbols, the more expensive and feature loaded mobile they have, the more they will show off. The amount of e-waste that electrical appliances generate is enormous. Search for recycling Centre near your place and give your e-waste to them. Let’spledge to save environment and our planet earth.
Holy books like Guru Granth Sahib ji, Bible, Gita, Quran Shriff, we all must have read them according to our religion. The teaching in all of them is the same, God is One. Let’s know more about them. The purpose to choose the holy books as a blog is to know, learn and share teachings of all the holy books. So that, everyone can relate to them and know that each and every holy book say the same thing. To me, HUMANITY IS THE BIGGESTRELIGION. If you show humanity towards fellow humans, then yes, you belong to the biggest religion.
Reading holy books cleanse our soul, like bathing cleanses our body. We bath daily, then why not read a holy book daily and cleanse our soul? It is source of positivity, which is needed in the morning to energise our soul whole day. Let us quickly see what are the teachings of all the holy books. The idea is, not to preach, but to share.

# You can be forgiven
# God wants you to be happy
# Support others with Live
TEACHINGS OF GITA

# Do not doubt
# Control your desires
# Do not run away from responsibilities
# Whatever happens, happens for good
TEACHINGS OF QURAN SHARIFF
# Belief in angels
# Belief in holy book
# Belief in Allah
# Belief in Prophet
All the holy books have a spiritual message in it. It’s upto us which path we take in life. Being religious or spiritual is good but religions should not be used as weapon to harm others. I have seen unity in diversity in India but, also seen religion being used by political leaders as weapon to divide and rule. This should be stopped. It will stop when we raise our children as representative of humanity apart from their religion, whichever religion they belong to. I strongly believe that HUMANITY IS THE BIGGEST RELIGION, though I born in a Sikh family.
World need more kindness, there are so many issues in the world to be taken care of that if we will not focus on that, our children will suffer afterwards. To give them better future, let’s join hands to invest in their future, in providing education, health services, better infrastructure, green energy, climate change. All the people who are providing support to war hit areas of Ukraine are appreciable. Like, Khalsa Aid, United Sikhs, Hemkunt Foundation, WHO and many more.
What we can do is, at least raise our child well, to make world a better place to live. We don’t think to harm, but, lend a helping hand as and when needed.
Many times we get confused, what are we craving for. Is it cup cakes or pudding, which will satisfy our cravings. So is the case with choosing a book to read. It’s difficult to choose which book to read on beginner level, for people who are to buy their first book to taste the joy of reading. First of all, you have to find which are the things, that makes you curious. The more the curiousity, the more easily you will find a book.
There are thousands of books available on every topic, be it self-development, self-motivation, novel, fiction, short stories, non-fiction etc. To develop a reading habit, start with reading magazines, some magazines also have short stories published on various topics in it. When you realise that yes, reading books is worth it, then buy a book on whichever topic you like, but it should be economical. So that, if you don’t like the book after reading it, you don’t regret, that you wasted too much on it. Build your collection of books slowly, by adding more titles of your choice.
Knowingly or unknowingly we have build reading habit, how? On daily basis we get active on social media scrolling, reading comments, posts, news, but don’t remember anything. Reading books is different, it makes us devoted towards what we are reading and helps in building concentration.
When we start a blog we decide a ‘niche’ for the blogs, likewise to choose what to read we have to decide the area of interest. In blogs we share information, on the other hand reading is more about polishing our skill and get informed. I believe, all the bloggers are good readers too, because, to give something, first of all, you must have that with you. I am talking about information.
I bought so many books and kids magazines for my son to develop reading habit in him. Now, he loves to read books of his choice. He himself decide what to read. When you decide the book, next question arise is, should I buy printed book, e-book or audio book? The answer to this question is, printed books. You can take membership of nearby library so that, you don’t have to buy books, you can read them for free or at very nominal membership. If you get old books near your place, that also is a good option.
You cannot develop reading habit initially with e-books or audio books and it’s true. I love the moment, I pick a book in my hand. I complete reading a book in parts, like, I read 2or 3 chapters and if find the book very interesting then one more chapter and grasp what is being said in it. For me grasping is more important than just reading. I personally feel that if you are reading something and not learning and implementing in life, then it’s of no use, it’s totally useless. You are wasting your time and energy.
‘Happiness is in small things youdo, not in big things you plan‘.
Books give immense pleasure. To enjoy the delight, grab your copy of happiness today.
Today we will know more about the world of e-books and audio-books. The advantages and disadvantages of both of them. So, without wasting time, let’s begin to explore the wonderful world of e-books and audio-books. You must have heard about Kindle app, it’s the most popular app for e-books lovers. While learning more about the e-books app, I came to know about one very interesting app called Libby. Link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.overdrive.mobile.android.libby.
In this app you can borrow books from libraries in which you are a member. The condition to borrow a book is, you must have membership of any library. If you don’t have membership of any library, it will redirect to library near you and you can fill membership form there. Take membership and you are all set to use Libby. It’s rightly said ‘ you can’tpour from empty cup ‘ . While sharing valuable information, we also become knowledgeable ourselves.
Now, let’s talk about some advantages ofe-books.
# You can purchase, download and start reading them within minutes, without going anywhere.
# No trees are cut to manufacture paper, hence, e-books save trees too.
# E-books takes less space, you don’t need space to keep books as in case of printed books.
# E-books are portable. You can carry e-books anywhere without worrying about the weight.
# Shareable Contents
# Purchasing 3 e-books per month for four years produces roughly 168 kilograms of CO2 throughout Kindle’s lifecycle, compared to the estimated 1,074 kilograms CO2 produced by the same number of printed books.
Audiobooks
Now let’s talk a little bit about audiobooks. There are many app available like Audible which provide access to audiobooks.
Is it better to read books or audiobooks?
While listening to an audiobook may help more with empathy and making the story come alive but reading is a better bet for retaining the information. An audiobook is more expensive than eBook version of same book.
Are print books dying?
No, Print books aren’t dying- they are evolving, offering more accessible ways for people to enjoy them.
We have seen how technology have taken over printed books. Still there are benefits to read a printed book. Let’s see what they are.
* You absorb more information.
* They make children better readers.
* They are easier on eyes.
* You are less likely to be distracted.
* They can help you sleep better.
* Having a library at home is linked to higher academic achievement.
* They amplify the joy of reading.
Hope you are informed wisely about the future of books and will take a better decision while choosing between printed books, e-books and audiobooks.
